Above ground a beautiful landscape, below ground a wealth of treasures; The Gurgltal in the Upper Inn Valley in the Tyrol was one of the most important mining areas of the North Tyrol in the Middle Ages. The Knappenwelt Gurgltal shows you how hard the everyday life of mining people was. There’s no need to scrabble around narrow, dark corridors; instead, the interesting showpieces and worlds of experience are attractively presented in an airy outdoor museum. Nine buildings and a mine invite you to go on a wonderful journey into the past. Visit the hut of the mountain smithy, the crushing mill as well as the writing room, look around the miners’ house, the pit house and the ore yard, and enjoy an exciting day to experience with the whole family.

That’s why the children’s experience world also gets to the point. The miners have looked for ore, and the kids have to find a solution word on the quiz trail. The one to find it wins a great prize! The miners’ tools can also be tried out and kids can discover how the miners lived and worked in the crawlspaces and in watergames. Instead of sweaty work, they can look forward to adventure and fun. Happi´s Hütte, a cosy inn nearby, offers well-earned refreshments. There is also a great playground, a Boccia run and a petting zoo with horses, rabbits, lamas, donkeys and many other animals.
