Pop on your helmets and all aboard! The journey into the past of copper mining in Jochberg begins with a ride on the true-to-original mine railway which runs through a 150-metre-long tunnel. On the way you will learn interesting things about copper mining, which has a long tradition in Jochberg. People have been digging for copper here for over 3,000 years. Up to 160 miners used to extract 1,800 tonnes of copper ore every year, which was smelted in Jochberg. Active mining stopped in 1926, but since 1990 it has been possible to discover the labyrinth of shafts and corridors in the tourist mine on an exciting day out for the whole family. Have fun and “Glück auf”, or good luck, as the miners say!
