A excursion full of surprises: There are notable things to see along the way to the Rosegarden Gorge at Imst, in the Upper Inn Valley: living quarters hewn into the rockface. And then the first glimpse of the gorge – and it’s easy to see why it is considered one of the best in Austria. Over a distance of two kilometres, the Schinderbach river cuts its way from the Blue Grotto to St. John’s Church through the rockfaces of the central mountain terraces at Imst. The vertical drop is over 200 m. The path leads via boardwalks, through rock tunnels and over stone steps. Your constant companion is the wild river, which crashes over rock steps, snakes through narrows and shows its foaming high spirits.
