Hiking, watching and photographing – this is how people go “deerstalking” in the idyllic Assling Game Park in East Tyrol. Along the way, people learn about many types of domestic wild animals. Stags, deer, chamois, martens, wild pigs, mufflons, mountain goats, marmots, wild cats, lynx, snakes, ducks, fish, birds of prey, aurochs and racoons live in the Assling Game Park in a spacious natural preserve. But what, for example, is the racoon doing in this illustrious group? Is it also a local wild animal? Over time it has become one – it originates from North and Central America, but there have reports of sightings in Austria since 1974. Things like this are learnt at Assling Game Park along the way. Feeding and petting are also allowed - but only with the cute animals in the petting zoo.
Educational forest path, farmer’s shop and summer toboggan run
After paying attention on a hike through the game park, children love to go and romp around. In the Assling world of experience there is plenty of opportunity for this. For example, on the summer toboggan run, on which visitors ride with mascot Flitzi at high speed past several animal enclosure, or on the large adventure playground with many attractions that delight the children. They are certainly also very keen to discover the cosy and informative educational forest trail. It explains the protective function of the forest in a playful way.
