The first City Archive in Innsbruck during the Middle Ages consisted only a simple chest situated in the home of the City Magistrate of the time. Today, the City Archive is a publicly accessible building which was made even more attractive with the addition of a City Museum in 2002. The exhibitions in the two display rooms of the City Museum are variously devoted to Tyrolean art of the history of the city of Innsbruck. Information on historical topics can be found in the reading room of the archive. In addition to a well-stocked library, the City Archive has numerous collections of photographs, newspapers and documents. A team of workers is happy to help you find what you are looking for.
