Also interesting for peace-loving minds: In 1490, Emperor Maximilian I. superseded Archduke Sigmund der Münzreicher as regional prince of the Tyrol, and erected several weapons arsenals in the Tyrol, following warring disputes with Switzerland. Innsbruck became the largest depository of weapons and armaments in the Austrian hereditary lands. The “Museum im Zeughaus” has presented itself as the house of Tyrolean cultural history since 1999. Using characteristic items of the collection from the region of Alt-Tirol, visitors walk through the museum in chronologically arranged “chapters”. Historically significant topics such as politics and religion, silver and salt, and many more are presented with great clarity.
