Reaching for the heavens? On 350 days a year the skies above Innsbruck are cloud-free and from the Nordkette you have an unobstructed view of the town, the provincial capital. The view of the mountain panorama is breathtakingly beautiful, too, and can be enjoyed from three levels: at the top stage of the architectonically fascinating Hungerburgbahn you are 300 metres above the town, the Seegrubenbahn takes you up in comfort to 1,905 m and the Hafelekar section goes up to 2,256 m. All three stages have access to walks that lead to idyllic pastures and cosy huts. From the Löwenhaus station it's only a few minutes to the Alpenzoo on the cableway.
Adventures and Events:
Gourmet walkers or adventurers – there's something to suit all tastes in the nearby recreation area on the Nordkette. The Nordkette single trail for mountain bikers is a cult, so is the via ferrata to Frau Hitt ridge. There are many good opportunities for a stop and atmosphere is ensured with a colourful events calendar at various locations. Every Sunday in July and August, for instance, there's brunch with live music from
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the "Alpenlounge Seegrube". Afterwards the flying fox is available to all guests free of charge, weather permitting. At 10 m/s you fly along a length of 100 m over the rooftops of Innsbruck, as it were. An unforgettable thrill.
